DTT Tips Cannot Handle Windows Registry Files

Postby mhmallory on Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:48 pm

I have a problem with displaying, importing, or cut paste of Windows XP formatted registry files. I thought it had to do with the size of a file, or the number of lines in a file, or the extension name used, but I found that it does not matter. The strange thing is that some .reg files are displayed correctly. I have attached some files which will illustrate the problem.
xp_reg_files.zip
Contains 2 examples which do not display correctly, one example which displays correctly
(1 KiB) Downloaded 1 time

Thanks,

Hi mhmallory,
the correct file is in regedit 4 plain text format. The last two files are in regedit 5 unicode format (DTT actually can open only plain text files, not unicode).
For these unicode files you can create a new tips with DTT then paste the text by copy and paste from notepad to DTT.
